Huggins Lookout

Panoramic Views

Huggins Lookout offers some of the best panoramic views over Bright, Porepunkah, and the Ovens Valley. Just a short but steep walk from the centre of Bright, this trail rewards you with sweeping vistas that are especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset.

The Walk

From the starting point in Bright, follow the signed track uphill through native bushland. The climb is short but steady, with some uneven surfaces, so good walking shoes are recommended. Along the way, you’ll pass sections of open forest that frame glimpses of the valley below. When you reach the lookout, you’ll be treated to a stunning viewpoint that makes the effort worthwhile.

Best Time to Visit

Huggins Lookout is spectacular year-round, but the golden light of early morning or late afternoon makes the colours of the valley pop. Bring your camera — this is one of Bright’s prime spots for photography. In autumn, the landscape glows with colour, while in winter the surrounding peaks may be dusted with snow.
